Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Keith Montgomery, 25 (DOB: 9/10/1991), in connection with a barricaded gunman incident. On October 19, 2016 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Detroit Police officers were called to a home in the 980 block of Brentwood in Detroit on a report of shots fired. It is alleged that the defendant broke into the home of a 24-yearold woman he was acquainted with and physically assaulted her and pointed a handgun at her head. When the police arrived at the location, the front door of the home was open and they could hear the defendant confronting the woman. When the police announced their presence and entered the home, it is further alleged that the defendant fled upstairs, threw a cinder block at an officer and fired shots in the direction of other officers. The defendant barricaded himself in the house and later fled the scene through an upstairs window. He was later taken into custody by the police.

Montgomery has been charged with: four counts of Assault with Intent to Murder; six counts of Felonious Assault; one count of Home Invasion First Degree; one count of Assault by Strangulation; one count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm; one count of Aggravated Domestic Violence; one count of Felony Firearm; and one count of Reckless Discharge of Firearm.

Keith Montgomery was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. today before Magistrate White. The probable cause conference is scheduled for October 28, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 4, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Patricia Jefferson in 36th District Court. Montgomery received a $1M cash/surety bond.
