Lorenzo Brooks and Leticia Molton – Defendant couple charged in connection with the September 15, 2016 death of their 11-month-old son. Today the Defendants were bound over on Involuntary Manslaughter and Child Abuse 2nd Degree charges. The arraignment on the information is scheduled for October 31, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Ikeie Smith – Defendant charged in multiple Wayne county sexual assault cases. Today his preliminary examination in Allen Park was held and he was bound over as charged and an additional charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree was added. The arraignment on the information date is October 31, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway, with the remaining eight cases all set for calendar conferences on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Detroit Man Charged with Terrorism Threat Against Detroit Police Chief Craig

Yesterday Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Stuart Horatio Lewis, 49, (DOB: 08/10/1967), of Detroit, in connection with spray painted threats to the police on a building. It is alleged that on October 20, 2016, Lewis spray painted “KILL ALL POLICE” and “KILL JAMES CRAIG” on a commercial building in the 200 block of West State Fair in Detroit. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the October 21, 2016 arrest of Lewis. He was released pending the signing of the warrant and re-arrested on October 24, 2016.

Lewis was charged with Threat of Terrorism, a felony with a penalty of up to 20 years, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, a felony with a penalty of up to four years, and Malicious Destruction of a Building, a misdemeanor with a penalty of 93 days.

The defendant was arraigned this morning in 36th District Court before Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000/10% bond.

Plymouth Woman Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Bridget Diane Caplin, 41 (DOB: 01/21/1975), of Plymouth, in connection with allegations of CSC with a minor. It is alleged that on May 24, 2016, Caplin engaged in criminal sexual conduct and also sent inappropriate material to a 15-year-old Plymouth male. The Plymouth Police Department investigated the allegations and a warrant request was submitted to WCPO. A request for additional investigation was made. On October 12, 2015, a not in custody warrant was signed against the defendant for Criminal Sexual Conduct – Third Degree (person Thirteen years through Fifteen years); Distributing Obscene Matter to Children; and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime.

Caplin was arraigned on October 19, 2016 and received a $250,000 cash/surety/10% cash bond. A Probable Conference is scheduled for October 28, 2016 and a Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 4, 2016. Both hearings are in 35th District Court.

Detroit Man Charged in Green Street Fatal Stabbing

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jason Alan Boyce, 42 (DOB:10/19/74), of Detroit, in connection with a fatal stabbing of 55-year-old Obiedious Warren Moore, 55 (DOB: 12/1/1960), of Farmington Hills, that occurred on October 22, 2016 at 12:15 p.m. on South Green Street in Detroit. It is alleged that Boyce and the victim were having a verbal argument over the proceeds from their marijuana grow operation when Boyce picked up a sharp instrument and stabbed the victim in the neck. The medical examiner determined that Moore died from multiple stab wounds.

Boyce has been charged with Second Degree Murder and was arraigned today in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 1, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. and the preliminary examination is on November 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., both before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston.

Charles Pugh – Former Detroit City Council President charged in connection with sexually inappropriate behavior with a then 14-year-old male. On Wednesday, October 26th at 9:00 a.m. Pugh is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing before Judge Thomas Cameron.

Charles Pugh – Former Detroit City Council President and former Fox 2 anchor charged in connection with sexually inappropriate behavior with a then 14-year-old male. Today Pugh pled guilty to two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 3rd Degree (Person 13-15) this morning, with a sentence agreement of: 5½ - 15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections, with the following conditions: lifetime sex offender registration; sex offender counseling; and no unsupervised contact with minors. The Sentence Hearing is scheduled for November 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Thomas Cameron.

Gregory Walker, Lillian Roberts and Ernest Coleman – Defendants charged in the kidnapping and murder of 13-year-old Deontae Mitchell. All three defendants pled guilty before Judge Michael Hathaway yesterday.

  • Gregory Walker pled guilty to Second Degree Murder, Kidnapping and Felony Firearm;
  • Lillian Roberts pled guilty to Second Degree Murder and Kidnapping;
  • Ernest Coleman pled guilty to Torture, Unlawful Imprisonment, Felony Firearm and Felon in Possession.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 9, 2016 before Judge Michael Hathaway.

Stuart Horatio Lewis Arraigned in Second Felony Case

Today Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Stuart Horatio Lewis, 49, (DOB: 08/10/1967), of Detroit, with Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm. On October 17, 2016 at approximately 4:20 p.m., a 43-year-old Detroit man came to Lewis’s home in the 19900 block of Exeter to execute a repossession order for Lewis’s truck. It is alleged that when the man attempted to take possession of the truck, Lewis armed himself with a BB shotgun, confronted the man and ordered him to unhook his truck. The man left the location and shortly afterward called 911.

Lewis was arraigned at 10:30 this morning on charges of Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm – Pneumatic Gun before Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000 cash/surety bond.

On October 25, 2016 Lewis was arraigned on the following charges: Threat of Terrorism, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, and Malicious Destruction of a Building.

Detroit Woman Charged in Carjacking of 74-Year-Old Woman

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Lawanda A. Hampton, 27, (DOB: 3/12/69) of Detroit, with Carjacking, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm. On October 23, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. at East Canfield and Moran in Detroit, the defendant asked the victim for a ride home. It is alleged that the defendant pretended to need to use the bathroom and got out of the car and pointed a handgun at the 74-year-old woman’s head. Fearing that she would be shot, the victim exited the car and the defendant drove away. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the apprehension of Hampton on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

Hampton was arraigned today in 36th District Court and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. Her probable cause hearing is scheduled on November 3, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and her preliminary examination is on November 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., both before Judge Kenneth King.

Jacob Paul-Anthony Barnes and Jeremy Lee – Defendants charged with the homicide of a Melvindale woman later found in an abandoned house on Vanderbilt Street in Detroit – Today’s preliminary examination was adjourned by the Court because a report had not been completed. The new preliminary examination date is November 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. before Judge NanceAdams in 36th District Court.
