Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Tremaine Neverson, 32, (DOB: 11/28/1984), also known as Trey Songz, of Virginia, in connection with an assault on a Detroit police officer. On December 28, 2016 at approximately 10:00 p.m., while performing at Joe Louis Arena, Neverson is alleged to have thrown an object which struck an individual in the head. When Detroit police officers approached Neverson to arrest him, Neverson is alleged to have struck an officer with his fist, causing a concussion.

Neverson has been charged with each of the following crimes: one count of Assaulting a Police Officer, Causing Injury (Maximum penalty of up to four years in prison and/or $5,000 fine) and one count of Aggravated Assault* (maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and/or $1,000.00 fine).

Neverson was arraigned in 36th District Court before Magistrate White today. The probable cause conference is scheduled for January 5, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for February 10, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Nance-Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000 10%bond
