Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Hope Ashley Blakes, 30 (DOB: 8/10/1986) of Southfield, with one count each of Operating a Motor Vehicle (MV) with a High BAC Causing Serious Injury, Operating a MV While Impaired, Operating a MV While Intoxicated with an Occupant less than 14, Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment of a Bodily Function, and Operating a MV While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.

On October 16, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. at Hamilton and Grove Streets in Highland Park, it is alleged that the defendant was driving under the influence of intoxicants with her two daughters, ages seven years old (DOB: 11/18/2008) and six years old (DOB: 4/15/2001), when she crashed her car. A 45-year-old Oak Park man was also a passenger in the car. Highland Park police were called to the scene of the injury accident and discovered two injured girls in the rear of the defendant’s car. The children were taken by medics to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The defendant was alleged to be intoxicated and uncooperative with the police when she was placed under arrest at the scene.

The defendant was arraigned today in 30th District Court before Judge Bridgette Officer-Hill in Highland Park. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 1, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Officer-Hill in 30th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
