With high school proms nearing, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell (D-District 7) will once again give scores of young ladies around metro Detroit plenty to look forward to through her annual prom dress donation program.

The 6th annual "Belle of the Ball" Prom Dress Donation Program, made possible through the commitment and kindheartedness of Vice-Chair Bell and her staff, will take place Saturday, April 27, at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 16500 Tireman, on the city's west side.

Once again Commissioner Bell will offer up the opportunity for young girls to fulfill their dreams of attending their school prom through this very special giveaway. Dresses and accessories, which will be accepted through Saturday, April 20, are to be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.

"This will be our sixth year and in each of the past five years we have had a tremendous outpouring of generosity from people in the community," Commissioner Bell said. "The event becomes truly emotional when you see that sparkle in the eyes of these girls, their family members and their friends, when they realize they have the opportunity to participate in something every high school girl should be able to experience.

"Every girl dreams of attending her prom and that is why I invite any girl in need of a prom dress to come out and join in on the fun on Saturday, April 27."
