Wayne County Commissioner Diane Webb, D-District 8, and Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko will co-host a town hall meeting on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Warren Valley Banquet Center, 26116 W. Warren, to discuss the proposed sale of the golf course and banquet center to developers. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. All Wayne County residents are welcome to attend and voice their opinions on the matter.
Warren Valley, designed in 1922 by world-renowned Scottish golf architect Donald Ross, features two 18-hole courses that have been a staple in the community for decades. In addition, the spacious clubhouse includes a pro shop, the Ross Room Bar & Grille and a fullbanquet center accommodating all types of events for up to 300 people.
"Mayor Paletko and I were elected to represent the residents of Dearborn Heights and we feel it is important to give them the opportunity to be heard as it relates to this proposal," Commissioner Webb said. "It is my hope that they will take advantage of this event so that we may know how the majority of them feel so we can represent appropriately.
"Generations of families have come to Warren Valley to experience and enjoy the beauty and the challenges that these two courses have to offer. Combined with the gorgeous banquet facility, Warren Valley is truly is a gem."
The county has received an offer for the Warren Valley site from Hillcrest Country Club, LLC of Dearborn for $1.8 million. Hillcrest's intent is to build single-family homes on the property. Warren Valley is one of two golf courses owned by the county.
