Wayne County opens new Literacy Library in Highland Park

This was a very special day for me as we all celebrated the official ribbon cutting ceremony launching our second Literacy Library at the Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center. The ability to read and read well is so important for our kids, and it's my hope that this new library will help create a new generation of readers and leaders. I want to thank all of our Wayne County employees who donated not just their time but their labor, money and even used books to help build this library. I also want to thank Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp and all the staff from Books For A Benefit whose idea it was to create this program and who we are so pleased to be partners with. Also a huge thanks to the Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center for allowing us to build our library here.

I have always believed that being a good public servant means serving the public, and I can't think of a better example than this.
