Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ernest Lee Jones, Jr., 25 (DOB: 040/8/1992), of Detroit, in connection with a breaking and entering of a Detroit Water and Sewage Service Station located in the 13300 block of East McNichols. On April 15, 2017 at 4:00 a.m., and in the early morning hours on April 19, 2017, it is alleged that Jones used a crowbar and sledge hammers to get inside the building where he broke into the cash registers and stole cash, coins and checks. Jones was arrested on April 19, 2017 at 2:05 a.m., when the police responded to a call of a B and E in progress.

Jones has been charged with Safe Breaking, Breaking and Entering A Building, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property.* Jones was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The probable cause conference is scheduled for April 28, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for May 4, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $15,000/10% bond.
