Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Joshua Alphonso Dickey, 24, of Detroit, in connection with the robbery of Youseff Harajly, of Dearborn Heights. On September 12, 2015 at 11:00 p.m., the victim, who was employed as a pizza delivery man, made a delivery to a location in the 7200 block of Stahelin in Detroit. It is alleged that Dickey robbed Mr. Harajly at gunpoint and took his money, identification and personal property. Mr. Harajly was forced into the house at gunpoint by the defendant and then left in a closet that was barricaded with a chair. He was able to force the door open and when he ran out of the house, he discovered that his car had been stolen. Mr. Harajly immediately ran to a local store and asked the employees to call the Detroit Police Department. As a result of an investigation by the Commercial Auto Theft Carjacking Unit, Dickey was arrested on September 21, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

Dickey was arraigned today on the following charges:

  1. Carjacking;
  2. Armed Robbery;
  3. Unlawful Imprisonment;
  4. Motor Vehicle - Unlawful Driving Away; and
  5. Stolen Property - R&C Motor Vehicle.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for October 1, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. and the preliminary examination is scheduled for October 8, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., both before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "It is always particularly disturbing when every day people are simply living their lives, going about their business and they become victims of violent crime. The alleged actions of the defendant in this case are simply inexcusable."
