On Friday, March 10, 2017, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Henry Keith Johnson, 55, (DOB: 12/15/61) of Detroit, in connection with an arson fire that killed five victims. On March 8, 2017 at 1:35 p.m., it is alleged that Johnson set a fire in an apartment building where he resided in the 10500 block of Whittier in Detroit. The fire killed five men who also resided in the building.

Johnson was charged with five counts of First Degree Felony Murder and one count of First Degree Arson*. The defendant was arraigned and remanded to jail on March 10, 2017. Johnson’s probable cause conference is scheduled for March 23, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 30, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
