Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Michael Hazaiah Williams, 69, (DOB: 12/28/1947), of Detroit, in connection with a felonious assault that occurred after an auto accident.

It is alleged that on August 20, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to Gallagher Street and East Grixdale Street in Detroit to investigate reports of an auto collision involving the defendant and two women from Detroit, ages 17 and 28. It is further alleged that when the defendant exited his vehicle, he fired a weapon at the complainants, striking their vehicle. The defendant was taken into custody at the scene. Medics transported the complainants to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Williams has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, two counts of Felonious Assault, six counts of Felony Firearm and Impersonating a Police Officer*. He was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The probable cause conference is scheduled for August 31, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for September 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis-Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
