Detroit Woman Charged In Elder Abuse Stabbing
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Betty Mae Clark, 50 (DOB: 11/08/1966), of Detroit, with the armed robbery and assault of a 90-year-old man, also of Detroit. It is alleged that on March 11, 2017 at approximately 2:22 p.m., while Clark was in the victim’s home, she assaulted, stabbed and robbed him. The victim sustained non-fatal stab wounds. Detroit EMS was dispatched to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Clark has been charged with AWIM, two counts of Felonious Assault, Armed Robbery and Larceny in a Building*. She was arraigned in 36th District Court this afternoon. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 23, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
