Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Shamicah Burton, 20, (DOB: 11/28/95), of Detroit, in connection with a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred at a gas station in the 15500 block of Fenkell. On March 20, 2016, at 4:30 a.m., it is alleged that Burton went to the passenger side of the car she was in and grabbed a handgun, fired shots, and struck a male victim multiple times. The defendant fled from the scene in a car. Investigation by the Detroit Police included observing security footage taken from the gas station that led to the identification and arrest of the defendant.

Burton has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent of Murder, Carrying with Unlawful Intent, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm. The defendant was arraigned today in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference has been scheduled for April 5, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. Burton received a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
