Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged former Dearborn City Clerk Kathleen D. Buda, 64 (DOB: 5/18/51) in connection with embezzling money, larceny, and committing misconduct during the course of her employment. From November 12, 2015 through December 12, 2015, it is alleged that Ms. Buda appropriated cash from an office cash box on multiple occasions. The specific facts and evidence will be introduced in court at the preliminary examination.

Ms. Buda has been charged with one count of Embezzlement by a Public Official, three counts of Larceny in a Building, and three counts of Misconduct in Office.* The defendant was arraigned this afternoon. Her probable cause conference is scheduled for March 10, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mark W. Somers in 19th District Court. She received a $50,000 personal bond and must surrender her passport. No exam date has been set at this time.

*The charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
