Prosecutor Worthy on More Magazine's May 2013 Fierce List

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has been selected along with 48 other prominent women for the Third Annual More Magazine Fierce List. Each year, women are selected who have impressed More Magazine's editors with their unique perspectives, dedication and commitment to their professions. Chesterfield Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash in Highland Park

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Jeremy Sherman-Gill Yancey, 30 (DOB 8/30/82), of Chesterfield, Michigan in connection with a fatal car crash that killed a 61-year-old man, a 59-yearold woman and a 57-year-old woman on April 12, 2013, at 3:37 a.m. on Woodward Avenue near Cortland Street in Highland Park. It is alleged that Yancey was observed recklessly driving a van at high rates of speed when the Highland Park Police attempted to stop him. After a short time, the police stopped their pursuit of the defendant because it was unsafe. The defendant is alleged to have continued to travel at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic lanes, when he crashed into a van, killing the man and the 57-year-old woman upon impact. The 59-year-old female was transported to a local hospital and died a short time later. Yancey is alleged to have been driving the car under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal car crash.

Yancey has been charged with three counts of Second Degree Murder (Life of any term of years), three counts of Operating while Impaired Causing Death (15 years) and Reckless Driving Causing Death (15 years).

Yancey was arraigned, bond set at $500,000 cash/surety, and the preliminary examination is scheduled for May 7, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in 30th District Court in Highland Park.

Robert Bashara - Charged with the murder of his wife Jane Bashara. The defendant will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in 36th District Court.

Redford Township Man Found Living in Trailer with Elderly Woman's Corpse

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Dennis Michael McCauley, 64 ( DOB 4/15/49), of Redford man with three counts of Uttering and Publishing, Disinterment of a Corpse, Failure to Report a Dead Body, Identity Theft, Illegal Possession of a Financial Transaction Device, and Larceny of $1000 and less than $20,000.

On April 22, 2013, a court officer was serving an eviction notice at a trailer located in the 26530 block of Plymouth in Redford Township on Ann Marie Marquis, 72. It is alleged that when McCauley opened the door of the trailer, the officer noticed a strong odor of decay and observed a dead body inside the trailer. The body was identified as Ms. Marquis; it is unknown how long she had been deceased. McCauley had been residing in the trailer for approximately one year. It is further alleged that after Ms. Marquis died failed to report her death, allowed her body to decay, used her credit card, stole her personal property and cashed her social security checks.

McCauley was arraigned today in 17th District Court and his bond is $250,000/10% cash or surety. There will be a pre-examination conference scheduled for April 30, 2013 in Redford.
