Mario Robert James Charged with Six New Indecent Exposure Cases

Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Mario Robert James, 39 (DOB 6/12/74) of Detroit in connection with exposing himself to young girls in six new cases. Last week James was arraigned in three cases where he is alleged to have exposed himself to 12-year-old girls. The preliminary examinations for those cases are scheduled for June 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.

March 4, 2014 - Incident at Monica and Chicago

On March 4, 2014 at approximately 8:43 a.m., a 10-year old girl and a 13-year-old girl were waiting for a bus to take them to Noble School when they were approached on Monica and Chicago by a man driving a truck. It is alleged that James drove up to the girls and exposed his penis to them. The girls went to school and immediately reported the incident to security. James has been charged with two counts of Indecent Exposure, a one year misdemeanor.

March 24, 2014 - Incident at Grandmont and Davison

On March 24, 2014 at approximately 8:15 a.m., a 14-year-old girl was walking to Dossin School when she was approached at Grandmont and Davison by a man driving a truck. It is alleged that James drove up to the girl and exposed his penis to her. The girl went to school and immediately reported the incident to school security. He has been charged with Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two year misdemeanor.

April 10, 2014 - Incident at Griggs and Morley

On April 10, 2014 at approximately 8:35 a.m., an 11-year-old girl was walking to Kenzie School when she was approached on Griggs and Morley by a man driving a truck. It is alleged that James drove up to the girl and exposed his penis to her. The girl went to school and immediately reported the incident to school security. James has been charged with Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two year misdemeanor.

April 11, 2014 - Incident at Glendale and Grandmont

On April 11, 2014 at approximately 8:20 a.m., a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl were walking to Dossin School when they were approached at Glendale and Grandmont by a man who was driving a truck. It is alleged that James pulled up to the girls and exposed his penis to them. The girls immediately reported the incident. James has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two year misdemeanor and one count of Indecent Exposure, a one year misdemeanor.

May 13, 2014 - Incident at West McNichols and Pinehurst

On May 13, 2014 at approximately 7:55 a.m., a 13-year-old was walking to Schulze School when she was approached near West McNichols and Pinehurst by a man who was driving a truck. It is alleged that James waved to her and exposed his penis. The girl reported the incident to school officials. James has been charged with one count of Indecent Exposure.

May 13, 2014- Incident at Puritan and Woodingham

On May 13, 2014 at approximately 8:17 a.m., a 12-year-old girl was walking to Buthune School when she was approached near Puritan and Woodingham by a man who was driving a truck. It is alleged that he drove up to the girl and exposed his penis to her. The girl went to her school and immediately reported the incident. James has been charged with one count of Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two year misdemeanor.

Investigation by the Detroit Police Department, in conjunction with the Detroit Public Schools Police, led to the arrest of James on June 2, 2014. James is expected to be arraigned on the six new cases sometime today in 36th District Court. Please contact the court to confirm the time of arraignment.

Charges Filed in Burning of Detroit Woman

Today Donald Jerome Chatman, 59 (4/14/55) of Detroit has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder Torture, Arson First Degree and Domestic Violence.

On June 6, 2014 at approximately 1:58 a.m. at a location in the 3600 block of Canton in Detroit it is alleged that Chatman doused his girlfriend with a flammable liquid and set her on fire. The Detroit Fire Department responded to the scene and the woman was transported to a local hospital. She is being treated for burns over approximately 40 percent of her body.

Chatman is expected to be arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on Sunday, June 8, 2014. Please confirm the date and time with the court.

David Marwann B'Shouty - Off-duty Windsor Constable arrested at the International Border Crossing and alleged to be in possession of cocaine at the time he went from Windsor, Ontario Canada into the U.S. On April 12, 2014, when the evidence was seized from B'Shouty, it had an appearance consistent with cocaine and it field tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Further forensic testing of the substance revealed that it was not a controlled substance. As a result the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office dismissed the charge without prejudice at the preliminary examination today and the motion was granted by Judge Michael Wagner.

Mario Robert James - Updated Information: Today James was arraigned on his six new cases. The four new felonies have the same preliminary examination date, June 17, 2014, as the four previously charged cases that will be heard by 36th District Court Judge Michael Wagner. The two misdemeanors are set for a pre-trial conference on June 20th before Judge Ronald Giles. James's bond on the four felonies is $100,000/10% and on the two misdemeanors he has received a $10,000/ 10% bond.

Nathanial Szczerbinski - Please be advised that the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office the warrant request is currently being reviewed in connection with the beating of Nathanial Szczerbinski that occurred on June 7, 2014 at approximately 4:15 p.m. at Vernor and Chalmers Streets in Detroit. The review process is not expected to be completed today.

Cinco de Mayo Shooting Warrant Decision Announced

On May 4, 2014, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Andre DeJesus, 19, of Detroit, was fatally shot at a location in the 4800 block of West Vernor in Detroit during the Cinco de Mayo parade. On May 5, 2014, the Detroit Police Department presented a warrant request for a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the case. After a thorough investigation, the warrant request was denied. It has been determined that the person in question acted in lawful self-defense of another person because at the time, he acted he reasonably believed that another person was in danger of imminent death or serious bodily harm

Two Detroit Men Charged in Beating of Motorist

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Toriano Williams, 20 (DOB: 7/18/93) and Demond Williams, 33 (DOB: 2/2/81), both of Detroit, have been charged in connection with the beating of motorist Nathaniel Szczerbinski, 34, of Grosse Pointe Park. On June 7, 2014 at approximately 4:15 p.m., at a location of Vernor and Chalmers in Detroit, it is alleged that the victim was driving his car in the wrong direction and was in a traffic accident involving a car driven by Demond Williams with Toriano Wiliams, who was riding n the passenger seat. When all of the men exited their cars, it is alleged that the defendants beat and kicked the victim. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendants. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.

The defendants have been charged with Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault. Demond Williams has been charged with Driving with an Expired License. They are expected to be arraigned today, however we have not been provided with time for the arraignment. Please confirm the time with 36th District Court.

Erin M. Justice and Second Man Charged in Death of Alicia Marie Fox*

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has issued charges in connection with the homicide of Alicia Marie Fox, 23, of Detroit. On June 3, 2014, at approximately 9:25 p.m. Detroit Police officers were called to when they were called to a location to investigate a possible dead body in the basement of a house in the 6800 block of Penrod. The dead woman died of multiple gunshot wounds and was later identified as Fox. It is alleged that her husband, Erin M. Justice, 28 (DOB: 10/29/85) fatally shot her at their home located in the 18400 block of Ardmore sometime between May 25 and May 27, 2014. A 37-year-old Detroit man is alleged to have known that Justice killed Fox and aided and assisted him after the crime occurred. Fox's six-year-old daughter Kaylah Hunter and Fox and Justice's eight-month-old son, Kristian Justice, remain missing and the Detroit Police Department is continuing to investigate the case. They have been assisted in the investigation of this case by Michigan State Police, ATF, SEMCAC (Southeast Michigan Crimes Against Children Task Force), FBI, City of Atlanta Police Department and Fulton County, Georgia Sheriff's Department.

Erin Justice has been charged with First Degree Murder a crime that carries a penalty of Life in Prison without Parole, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, an offense that carries a five-year maximum penalty and Felony Firearm, an offense that carries a two-year consecutive sentence. He is currently being held by authorities in Atlanta, Georgia. Today Justice did not waive his extradition hearing. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office (WCPO) has up to 30 days to file a Governor's Warrant for a hearing to have Justice extradited back to Michigan. WCPO will be working to have Justice brought back as expeditiously as possible.

A second man has been charged with being an Accessory After the Fact to a Felony, an offense that carries a five-year penalty. He is expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court on the morning of Friday, June 13, 2014.

*NOTE: The name of the second man will not be released until the Detroit Police Department has had the warrant request authorized by a magistrate.
