Statement of Kym L. Worthy on Kwame Kilpatrick's Federal Conviction

Kwame Kilpatrick's Post Conviction Hearing in Perjury Case Adjourned

The Post Conviction Hearing in Kwame Kilpatrick's Perjury case set for tomorrow in Judge David A. Groner's courtroom has been adjourned until further order of the court.

Shadell Love - Arraigned yesterday in connection with the March 7, 2013 triple homicide on Coyle in Detroit. Love was remanded without bond and a preliminary examination was scheduled for March 19, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the 36th District Court.

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged a second man, Kevin Lewis, 25, of Detroit, in connection with the March 7, 2013 homicides of Lauren Trotty, 25, India Coleman, 20, and Curtis Clemens, 20, all of Detroit. The bodies of the three victims were discovered during the morning hours of March 7, 2013, at a home located in the 11000 block of Coyle in Detroit. Shadell Karvez Love, 21, of Detroit has been previously charged in connection with this triple homicide.

Lewis is charged with three counts of First Degree Premeditated Murder (Mandatory life without parole). He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the 36th District Court. Please contact the Detroit Police Department for a picture of the defendant.

Arthur B. Blackwell, II - Today the former Emergency Financial Manager for the City of Highland Park pleaded No Contest to one count of Safe Keeping of Public Money (two year High Misdemeanor). By pleading No Contest, Blackwell did not contest the allegations that he was: 1) an agent or servant of the State of Michigan, Local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board and/or the City of Highland Park, (2) that as a public officer he was authorized by law to receive public money, and (3) he used the money for his own private use. Sentencing is scheduled for April 16, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway.
