Employees have been allowed back into Frank Murphy.

Robert Bashara Preliminary Examination - At this time we have not received word from the court regarding whether the Bashara preliminary examination will be heard today. As soon as we receive information we will send an update.

Robert Bashara Preliminary Examination - Judge Kenneth King has informed us that the preliminary examination will be held today at 1:30 p.m. in Room 502 in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.

Escapee Expected To Be Arraigned on New Charges Today

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Abraham Pearson/Derreck White, 25 ( DOB-12/2/87) of Detroit, in connection with the September 9, 2013 assault of a Wayne County deputy sheriff, and escape from custody which occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, located at 1441 St. Antoine. After he fled from the building at approximately 8:20 a.m., he went to a parking lot near 1300 Beaubien where he carjacked a minivan driven by a 58-year-old female.

Pearson/White is expected to be arraigned at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at 36th District Court before Judge McConico on the following charges: Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Assaulting a Police Officer Causing Serious Impairment, Assault of a Prison Employee, Unlawful Imprisonment, Escape from a Jail Through Violence, Impersonating a Police Officer to Commit a Crime, Carrying a Weapon with Unlawful Intent (Article Fashioned as a Shank), Possession of a Weapon in Jail (Article Fashioned as a Shank) and Obstruction of Justice.

Abraham Pearson/Derreck White - The defendant will be sentenced on September 23, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Dana Hathaway. He will be sentenced on case number 13-003062-01-FC on charges of Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Unlawfully Driving Away a Motor Vehicle, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm. Today Judge Hathaway set aside a bench warrant on this case and remanded the defendant to jail
