Detroit Woman Charged in Greenlawn Fatal Shooting

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Auroniece Jackson, 32 (DOB 9/14/83), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Toney Lynn-Antonio Mason, a 32-year-old Detroit man. The defendant and Mason have children in common. On April 22, 2016, at approximately 7:09 p.m. Detroit Police Officers were called to the front of a location in the 15900 block of Greenlawn in Detroit and observed a male face down suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. It is alleged that Mason had a verbal argument with Auroniece Jackson prior to being shot. The defendant left in a car and came back to the Greenlawn location and shot and killed Mason.

Jackson has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm. The defendant arraigned in 36th District Court this morning before Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for May 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for May 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.; both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Patricia Jefferson.

Christopher Gaines (DOB: 2/2/80) - Defendant, while not in police custody, was charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death on June 16, 2013, in connection with a December 6, 2012 alcohol-involved fatal car crash that occurred in the express lanes of I-96 near M-39. David Charles Arcand (DOB: 6/1/85) of Dearborn Heights, was killed in the crash. Gaines, a fugitive from the law, was arrested yesterday by the Michigan State Police and the Detroit Fugitive Task Force. He will be arraigned at 2:30 a.m. today in 36th District Court. It will be a video arraignment from Dearborn Heights to 36th District Court.

David Corzilius - Corzilius is currently charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and other related charges in the case. He has a competency hearing and preliminary examination currently scheduled for June 8, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has been informed by the police that Grosse Pointe Farms designer Daniel Clancy died yesterday. We do not have paperwork from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office regarding his death at this time. When that is received, a determination will be made to amend the charges against the defendant.

Chris Navarrete - Defendant charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting of his 11-year-old son. His son was alone in the home and shot himself with his father's weapon. The probable cause hearing was held today and the defendant waived his preliminary examination. His arraignment on the information is circuit court will be held on May 12, 2016.

Antoine Jones - Detroit middle school basketball coach charged with inappropriate sexual contact with male students. On April 27th the court moved up the calendar conference and scheduled the final conference for Friday, June 14, 2016 and set the trial on July 27, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Dajuan Watson - Defendant charged in the homicide of an Uber driver. The preliminary examination was held and bound over on all counts. The arraignment date is on May 5, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

David Corzilius - Grosse Pointe Farms designer Daniel Clancy died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and, as a result, today the Assault with Intent to Murder has been amended to Felony Murder. Corzilius's original charges of Home Invasion First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Larceny in a Building, and Felonious Assault remain. The defendant has a competency hearing and preliminary examination currently scheduled for June 8, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. If he is found to be competent to stand trial on June 8, 2016, he will be arraigned on the Felony Murder charge at that time.

Inkster Child Death Warrant - WCPO has not received a warrant request for this case. The matter remains under investigation with the police.

Mateen Cleaves - Ms. Dena Altheide, Director of Court Operations (810) 257-3181 for the 67th District Court has indicated this afternoon that the Probable Cause Conference in case scheduled for May 3, 2016 has been adjourned by the court and at that a new date has not yet been scheduled. An update will be sent out when a new date is received.
