Detroit Woman Charged in Shooting of Boyfriend

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Starr K. Holmes, 25 (DOB: 05/29/1992), in connection with the fatal shooting of Pap Robinson Jenkins, 31. The defendant and the victim, both of Detroit, had a dating relationship. On March 4, 2017 at 2:45 a.m. at a gas station located in the 12000 block of Grand River, it is alleged that Holmes and Jenkins had an argument because Jenkins refused to return some personal items belonging to Holmes. It is further alleged that Holmes pulled out a gun and fatally wounded Jenkins.

Holmes has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Felony Firearm*. She was arraigned yesterday before Magistrate Dawn M. White. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 13, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 20, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court.

Detroit Man Charged In Carjacking and Car Chase with Police

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Curtis Bradford, 27 (DOB: 07/1/1989), of Detroit, in connection with a carjacking and robbery that ended in a police chase in Detroit. On March 4, 2017 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Bradford was a passenger in his 21-year-old female cousin’s car, along with another female passenger, when they stopped at a gas station located in the 12100 block of Livernois. When Bradford’s cousin refused to drive him to another location, it is alleged that he became upset, pulled out a hand gun and fired a shot, causing her to flee the car. It is further alleged that the defendant drove the car, dragging the other female a short distance, before stopping to let her out. The police were able to locate the defendant in the stolen car but he refused to stop for the police. He led the police in a car chase that ended when the defendant crashed the car.

Bradford is charged with Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Extortion, Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property-Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Weapon with Unlawful Intent, Fleeing and Eluding 3rd, Felon In Possession and Felony Firearm Second Degree*.

Bradford was arraigned yesterday before Magistrate Laura A. Echartea. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 13, 2017; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

Administrative Law Judge Charged with Inappropriate Touching of Female Worker

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Judge Henry Perez, 74, in connection with inappropriate contact with a 33-year-old Pontiac woman. Judge Perez is a Federal Administrative Law Judge for the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, currently on leave from his position. On December 28, 2016 approximately 7:00 a.m., the female complainant was working in the Social Security Office located in the 19500 block of Victor Parkway in Livonia when the defendant called her into his office. Once inside the office, it is alleged that the defendant had inappropriate sexual contact by touching the complainant’s body against her will.

Judge Perez has been charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) Fourth Degree*. CSC Fourth Degree is a misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to two years. He was arraigned on Friday, March 10, 2017 in 16th District Court in Livonia. His bond is: 3,000, 10%, no contact with the victim, no firearms, no contact with the Social Security Administration building. The probable cause hearing is on March 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. The preliminary examination is on March 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. The defendant is represented by attorney James Feinberg.

Prosecutor Worthy said, “These allegations are very troubling. This type of charged behavior will not be tolerated no matter your station in life."

Whittier Fire Warrant – We have received the warrant request and it is currently being reviewed. An arraignment is not expected to today.

Tremaine Neverson/Trey Songz – Rapper charged in connection with the December 28, 2016 assault of a police officer. There is currently a plea offer of: Attempt Resisting and Obstructing the Police, Aggravated Assault with two years probation, drug and alcohol screening, complete treatment recommended by the probation department, anger management counseling, any other conditions imposed by court. The defendant is considering the plea offer in the case. The court date was recently changed by Judge Larry Talon to a calendar conference on Thursday, March 16, 2017, due to scheduling issues. The defendant will be present via video.

DDOT Bus Driver Case – The warrant request was recently received but the review process will continue until tomorrow. An update will be sent out when a decision is made.
