Detroiters Charged with Shooting at ATF Agents

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Kevin Keshawn Young, 21 (DOB: 07/13/1997) of Detroit, Damesha Latay Few, 21 (DOB: 10/05/1997), of Redford, and Aaron Marquis Shooks, 20 (DOB: 06/04/1998) of Detroit, in connection with opening fire on two Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Agents.

On April 15, 2019 at approximately 1:55 p.m., ATF agents were in the area of Morang Street in Detroit when they observed a vehicle with several occupants, and a shattered rear window, speed past at a high rate of speed. The agents followed the vehicle and observed a male occupant with a firearm exit the rear of the vehicle and approach a house in Detroit. The agents called Detroit Police dispatch. The agents followed the car to a location at Cedargrove Street and Queen Street, when another male occupant armed with a firearm, exited the rear of the vehicle and fired shots at the agents. The agents followed the vehicle from a distance to a location on Mayfield Street, at which time the defendants were arrested by the Detroit Police.

Young has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Felonious Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon in Motor Vehicle and five counts of Felony Firearm.*

Few has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon in Motor Vehicle.*

Shooks has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and two counts Felonious Assault.*

The defendants were arraigned at 1:00 p.m. today before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conferences are scheduled for April 29, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examinations are scheduled for May 6, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. All hearings are before Judge Michael Wagner in 36th District Court. Please request photographs of the defendants after the arraignment.
