Taylor Woman Charged in Detroit Car Collision

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Beyonca Lynn Mack, 34 (DOB: 07/21/1984), of Taylor, in connection with a two vehicle collision causing severe injury to the victim, a 43-year-old Detroit woman.

On July 30, 2018 at approximately 1:35 a.m., in the area of West Davison Street and Dexter Avenue in Detroit, it is alleged that the defendant was driving westbound on West Davison with one passenger in the vehicle. Mack was traveling at a high rate of speed when she struck the victim's vehicle, which was turning left onto northbound Dexter Avenue. Detroit EMTs arrived on the scene and transported all three individuals to a local hospital for treatment. During the investigation into the collision, it is alleged that the defendant initially gave a false identity to the medics, Detroit police officers and hospital staff. It was further determined that the defendant had an elevated BAC.

Mack has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury, Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury, Driving While License Suspended Causing Serious Injury, and Lying to Police Investigating a Crime*

Mack was arraigned on August 1, 2018 before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn White. The probable cause conference is scheduled for August 8, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for August 15, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000/10% bond. If bond is posted, the defendant must wear an alcohol/GPS tether.
