Detroit Woman Charged in East Jefferson Avenue Fatal Car Crash

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Lisa Haskins-Baggs, 53, (DOB: 04/29/1965), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed Eunice Person, 77, also of Detroit.

On August 2, 2018 at approximately 8:05 p.m., Detroit police were dispatched to East Jefferson and Conner regarding a two car crash. It is alleged that while traveling eastbound on Jefferson, the defendant veered into the westbound lanes and struck the victim's vehicle. Medics arrived at the scene and transported both the victim and the defendant to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Ms. Person was pronounced dead at the hospital. The defendant was placed into custody while in the hospital.

Haskins-Baggs has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death and Operating a Vehicle While License Suspended, Revoked or Denied, Causing Death*.

Haskins-Baggs was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for August 13, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for August 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000/10% bond.
