Detroit Man Charged in Carjacking and Sexual Assault

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Tony David Kingsley, 24 (DOB: 08/25/1993), of Detroit, in connection with a carjacking and sexual assault that occurred in Hamtramck and Detroit.

On August 19, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to the Detroit Police Department's 4th Precinct whereupon they met with the 32 year-old female victim. It is alleged that Kingsley carjacked the victim in the rear of the 3300 block of Holbrook in Hamtramck. It is further alleged that the defendant demanded items from the victim at gunpoint and then got in the car and drove to southwest Detroit. In the area of Patton Park, the defendant is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim and then left in the victim's car. The victim's car was discovered later that day, burned near Joseph Campau and McLean.

Kingsley has been charged with Carjacking, Robbery - Armed, Kidnapping, Torture, two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct - First Degree, two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct - Third Degree, Arson - Fourth Degree and four counts of Felony Firearm*.

Kingsley was arraigned on August 27, 2018 before Judge Alexis Krot in 31st District Court in Hamtramck. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Krot in 31st District Court. The defendant received a $1 Million dollar cash/surety/10% bond.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
