Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Fleming, 69 (DOB: 11/04/1949), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shootings of Kenneth Darnell Hall, 50 and Bernice Clark, 66, both of Detroit.

On November 13, 2018, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Detroit police officers responded to a shooting in progress at an apartment building in the 800 block of Dickerson. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the first victim, Mr. Hall, a security guard at the building, who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was unresponsive outside of the apartment building. The police then discovered the second victim, Ms. Clark, who also sustained a gunshot wound and was found unresponsive in the first-floor hallway. Medics arrived and pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

After Mr. Hall opened his door for him, it is alleged that Fleming discharged his weapon at Mr. Hall, striking him. It is further alleged that the defendant fired his weapon at other people as he exited the building, fatally striking Ms. Clark.

Fleming has been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and six counts of Felony Firearm. He is also charged with one count each of Kidnapping, Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm.*
