Detroit Man Charged in Manor Street Murders

On December 13, 2019, Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Sylvester Denard Gilmore, 44 (DOB: 04/04/1975), of Detroit, in connection with the homicides of Anthony Foster, 69 and Devon Gillard, 41, both of Detroit.

On December 12, 2019, at 12:15 a.m., at a location in the 11740 block of Manor, it is alleged that Gilmore had a verbal disagreement with Foster and Gillard, and fatally shot them with a handgun. Detroit Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. and observed the two victims in the living room of the home. They also observed Gilmore seated in a living room chair with a handgun next to him. Medics arrived at the scene and pronounced the two victims deceased. The defendant was taken into custody at the scene. More complete facts and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Gilmore has been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, and two counts of Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned on December 16, 2019 before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 30, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 6, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court. The defendant was remanded to jail. Please ask the Detroit Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.
