Two Downriver Men Charged in Brownstown Township Fatal Beating

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rickey Dale Richett, 45, (DOB: 07/27/1973), of Monroe, MI and Damian Antony Willingham, 26 (DOB: 01/21/1992), of Newport, MI in connection with the fatal beating of 50-year-old Michael Beaudrie of Battle Creek, MI that occurred in the parking lot of a Brownstown Township bar.

On May 6, 2018 at approximately 2:11 a.m., Brownstown Township police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a sports bar located in the 22000 block of Sibley Road. Upon arrival, the officers found Michael Beaudrie lying on the ground unconscious. Medics transported the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to blunt force trauma injuries.

It is alleged that Beaudrie's brother was intoxicated and accidently bumped into Willingham. After exiting the bar, Willingham and Richett engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical altercation with Beaudrie's brother. When Michael Beaudrie attempted to intercede, it is alleged that Richett struck him multiple times in the face and about the body while aided by Willingham. It is further alleged that Richett and Willingham then physically assaulted Beaudrie's brother before driving away from the scene. Investigation by the Brownstown Police Department led to the arrests of the defendants.

Richett and Willingham have each been charged with Open Murder and Assault with Intent to Murder.* They were recently arrested and arraigned today. Probable Cause Conferences have been scheduled for January 29, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. the Preliminary Examinations have been scheduled for February 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Michael McNally in 33rd District Court. Both defendants were remanded to jail.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
