Lincoln Park Man Charged in Whitcomb Street Fatal Shooting

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Louis L. Davis, III, 36 (DOB: 07/03/1982), of Lincoln Park, in connection with the fatal shooting of Antwan Esters-Douthet, 28, and the non-fatal shooting of a four-year-old male child.

On June 21, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the 9900 block of Whitcomb Street in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers discovered medics at the scene who transported the four-year-old male child to a local hospital for treatment. They also observed the victim nearby, suffering from gunshot wounds. Other medics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the apprehension of the defendant.

It is alleged that an argument between Davis and the victim escalated into a fatal shooting. Facts and evidence of the case will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.

Davis has been charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned in 36th District Court on August 6, 2019. His Probable Cause Conference will be held on August 20, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 27, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Michael Wagner in 36th District Court.
