Detroit Man Charged in Hit and Run Incident
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Corie Williams, 29 (DOB: 04/06/1989), of Detroit, in connection with a hit and run incident. On September 8, 2018, at 3:30 p.m., in the 1110 block of Phillip, it is alleged that the defendant was observed by the police driving at a high rate of speed. When officers in a marked scout car attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the defendant fled the scene at a high rate of speed, striking several parked cars, causing damage. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department, assisted by the Grosse Pointe police, led to the arrest of the defendant later on the same day.
Williams has been charged with: Fleeing and Eluding - Third Degree; two counts of Resisting and Obstructing Police; Reckless Driving; and Failure to Stop After an Accident*. He was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 19, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 25, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000/10% bond.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
