West Bloomfield Man Charged in Detroit Organized Retail Fraud Scheme

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Robert Jamal Yono, 37 (DOB: 06/05/1981), of West Bloomfield, Mi, in connection with an organized retail fraud scheme where stolen items from various established stores at various locations in the region were sold to a liquor store in Detroit, MI.

From June 2017 through November 2017, it is alleged that Defendant Yono conducted an organized retail fraud scheme out of the Omni Liquor Store located in the 14700 block of West Seven Mile Road in Detroit. It is further alleged that the defendant would request specific items that would be stolen from local stores, such as Walmart, CVS or Rite Aid and would purchase the stolen goods to resell.

Yono has been charged with one count of Conducting a Criminal Enterprise, Organized Retail Crime - five counts, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property - $1,000 but less than $20,000 - five counts and Food Stamp Fraud - $250 -- $1,000 - three counts*. He was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 26, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000 cash/surety bond.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
