Southfield Woman Charged in Homicide of Kabria Arnold

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gabrielle Marie Brantley, 24 (DOB: 04/30/1995) of Southfield, in connection with the homicide of Kabria Arnold, 20, of Detroit. On November 10, 2019 at 11:40 p.m., Detroit police officers located Ms. Arnold at Pilgrim Street and Bentler Street lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced her deceased at the scene.

Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Brantley on November 18, 2019. It is alleged that she shot and killed Ms. Arnold while she was pregnant. The matter remains under investigation. The facts and evidence in the in the case will be placed on the record at the preliminary examination.

Gabrielle Brantley has been charged with one count each of First Degree Premeditated Murder, Assault on a Pregnant Woman - Intentionally Causing Miscarriage/Stillbirth (15 year maximum penalty), and two counts of Felony Firearm.*

Brantley was arraigned after 2:00 p.m. today before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 5, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 12, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court.
