Van Buren Township Man Charged in Homicide of His Wife

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terrance Oneal, 63 (DOB: 04/21/1956), in connection with the homicide of his wife, Belinda Oneal, 62. The Oneals were both of Van Buren Township, Michigan. On November 5, 2019 at approximately 1:00 a.m., it is alleged that Mr. Oneal had a verbal argument with his wife and fatally shot her in their home located in the 7000 block of Fay Drive. Shortly thereafter he left the home in his car. At 1:30 a.m. the Van Buren Township Police investigated the scene and discovered the lifeless body of Mrs. Oneal on the second floor of the home. She died from a single gunshot wound.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on the same day, the defendant was pulled over by police officers on I-94 in Berrien County and placed under arrest. Van Buren Township police were dispatched to the Berrien County jail and transported the defendant back to Van Buren Township.

The defendant has been charged with: Second Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.* He was video arraigned out-county in 34th District Court in Romulus on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 20, 2019; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 27, 2019 in 34th District Court in Romulus. The defendant was remanded to jail.
