On February 24, 2024, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Hershel Lanier Marion Jr., 19, of Detroit in connection with the shooting of an 11-year-old girl in the head. On February 23, 2024, Tahkari Turner, 18, Robert Lee Turner Jr., 20, and Nasir Lavant Garrett, 19, all of Detroit, were also charged in connection with the shooting. Other victims of the shooting incident inside the home were a 43-year-old woman, a 38-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, another 11-year-old girl, an eight-year-old girl, and a seven-year-old girl, all of Detroit. They did not sustain gunshot wounds during the shooting incident.On February 20, 2024, at approximately 4:12 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 block of Pennsylvania Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the 11-year-old victim inside the living room of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers transported the 11-year-old victim to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that Defendant Marion, Defendant Tahkari Turner, and Defendant Garrett, produced and fired handguns into the residence, seriously wounding the 11-year-old victim before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Tahkari Turner and Defendant Garrett later the on day of the shooting. The arrest of Defendant Robert Turner occurred on February 21, 2024.

Hershel Lanier Marion Jr., has been charged with nine counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Discharge in or at a Building Causing Serious Impairment, and 10 counts of Felony Firearm.*

He was arraigned on February 25, 2024, in 36th District Court and given a $2 million cash bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 4, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 11, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Kenneth King.

Tahkari Turner was charged with nine counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Discharge in or at a Building Causing Serious Impairment, and 10 counts of Felony Firearm.*

Robert Lee Turner, Jr. was charged with one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition, two counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Accessory After the Fact, and one count of Tampering with Evidence.*

Nasir Lavant Garrett was charged with nine counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Discharge in or at a Building Causing Serious Impairment, and 10 counts of Felony Firearm.*

"These senseless shootings are even more tragic when innocent people - especially a child is harmed. The evidence will show that the defendants are responsible for this brutal and violent assault. This case is still under investigation, and we expect another potential defendant will be charged," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Defendant Tahkari Turner, Defendant Robert Lee Turner Jr., and Defendant Garrett were arraigned on February 23, 2024, in 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton. Defendant Tahkari Turner and Defendant Garrett were remanded to jail, and Defendant Robert Turner received a $250,000 cash bond with a GPS tether. A bond re-determination hearing for Defendant Robert Turner is scheduled for February 26, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 1, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 7, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
