Westland Man Charged in Dearborn Fatal Shooting

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Brandon Michael Kournoian, 29, (DOB: 04/10/1991) of Westland, in connection with the beating and fatal shooting of Keith Thomas Monday, 26, of Dearborn.

On September 20, 2020 at approximately 6:06 p.m., Dearborn Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2700 block of Holly Street in Dearborn in response to a 911 call. Upon arrival, the officers located the victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Medics on the scene transported the victim to a hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

It is alleged that an argument between the defendant and the victim escalated into a physical altercation, before the victim was fatally shot. Investigation by Dearborn Police led to the apprehension of Kournoian. Facts and evidence about the incident will be placed on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Kournoian has been charged with Felony Murder, Home Invasion - First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned this morning before Judge Gene Hunt in 19th District Court in Dearborn. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 9, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 16, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. in 19th District Court. he defendant was remanded to jail.
